Shifting Ground: The Limited Partner Exception and Its Impact on Finance Leaders

The definition of a “limited partner” is no longer as clear-cut as it once seemed and recent developments are putting that ambiguity into the forefront for CFOs and controllers concerned about real tax risk and strategic decision points.
Join Weaver and the FEI Houston Chapter for happy hour, light bites, and lively discussion with peers across the Houston finance community.
In this session, Weaver’s Tax Partner, Sean Muller, will break down what the latest rulings mean in practice, cutting through the complexity to highlight where businesses may be exposed, where opportunities may exist and how finance leaders can navigate what’s next.

Learning Objectives

  • Summarize recent developments impacting the limited partner exception
  • Assess how changing interpretations may affect self-employment tax treatment
  • Identify key risk areas and considerations for partnership structures
  • Apply insights to current and future tax planning discussions
