| Dinner Meeting: | "Current State of Energy Markets: Where Do We Go From Here?" |
Dan Pickering, |
In a world of low oil and gas prices, declining capital budgets and soft activity, the current oilpatch downcycle is extremely painful. Is Lower for Longer the right answer? Is a turnaround likely in 2016? What is the “right” equilibrium price for oil and gas? In a quest to understand how it all plays out over the next several years, we’ll look at the interactions of oil supply/demand/inventory dynamics, geopolitical considerations, OPEC and the financial markets. Upside opportunities and downside risks will be discussed, with a specific focus on the implications for the North American industry. Dan Pickering is the Co-President of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. and Chief Investment Officer of TPH Investment Management. The firm manages over $1 billion in client assets across TPH’s publicly-focused fund strategies including the TPH Energy Infrastructure Fund, the TPH MLP Fund, the TPH Energy Equity Opportunity Fund (where he is the portfolio manager) as well as private-equity strategies via TPH Partners and the TPH Energy Co-Investment Fund. Dan has spent 20 years as an energy portfolio manager, researcher and analyst, first at Fidelity Investments (where he managed ~$1 billion of energy sector funds), then as Head of Research at Simmons & Company and as the founding partner of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Dan grew up in Missouri, has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the Missouri School of Science and Technology and an MBA from the University of Chicago. |
| Professional Development Session Speakers: |
"What is Integrated Performance Management (IPM) and why should you care?" |
Whether you call it CPM, EPM, BI or just financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, the acronyms used to describe performance management are outnumbered only by the methodologies used to implement it. They all describe a framework of capabilities that enable an organization to effectively strategize, plan, measure and act on business performance, and all promise to deliver performance multiples that far outweigh the cost of implementation. Except when they don't integrate! And guess what, it is not the technology that will really drive success but rather the focus on process improvement and organization alignment that will take you way beyond manual and siloed spreadsheets or legacy tools. This month’s professional development session will feature a distinguished panel of experts representing, Finance, Accounting and Information Technology all with years of experience focused on enabling and managing performance management processes. And to be successful in today's business climate, every successful company will need to have clear visibility into the financial levers that drive their company and the agility to model new ideas and opportunities driven by Integrated Performance Management. |
